Our upstream provider Liquid Web will be performing an evening maintenance on Aug 9th to migrate between data centers.
During the maintenance window, the Control Panel will be temporarily unavailable (approximately 1 hour) to ensure synchronization between locations. Also during this maintenance window, your websites and databases will experience temporarily READ ONLY mode to ensure accurate data transfer. After the migration, the database management IPs will be updated to the IPs listed at the link below. You will see this change reflected in the control panel as well.
NOTE: Database read only status will be based on size and complexity of individual database. Large databases may take 20-60 minutes for synchronization. The maintenance window is expected to last for approximately six hours.

Our upstream provider Rackspace has made us aware of issues regarding their email service. This may be effecting a small number of Laughing Squid Web Hosting customers.
- webmail errors
- pop/imap connection errors
- problems with accessing mail folders

New Year’s Day
Hosting and billing support will be closed on Monday, January 2nd in observance of New Year’s Day. Support requests and forms submitted during this period will be processed on Tuesday, January 3rd.
Rackspace will be implementing HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to the Cloud Sites infrastructure on August 1, 2016. This security upgrade only applies to HTTPS sites. HSTS significantly improves website security, ensuring redirects are protected from information capture by attackers and protects from malicious redirects to phishing sites.
All Laughing Squid Web Hosting customers using SSL for their sites will need to resolve any mixed content warnings on their sites by August 1st to avoid down time. More information on what mixed content is and how to verify and correct it is available here:
To test changes prior to the implementation, put this line in the top of your .htaccess file:
Header Set Strict-Transport-Security "max-age=90"
This will cause HSTS to be strictly enforced on the site for up to 90 seconds, enough time to prevent the site from caching the enforcement while still allowing changes to any page(s) if needed. On August 1st, Rackspace will set the enforcement time to 180 days, which is the full implementation recommendation. After this any mixed content sites will be unable to serve content properly.

Over the past two days, Rackspace, our upstream provider for cloud hosting, has been experiencing prolonged outages with cloud hosting. This has impacted our ability to provide solid uptime over these days.

While some Laughing Squid customers may not be impacted by this, some accounts will continue to experience intermittent issues with Rackspace’s cloud hosting. We apologize for the downtime and ask for your patience as Rackspace continues to troubleshoot their problem.
