WordPress 5.0 “Bebo”

WordPress 5.0 “Bebo”, named for Cuban musician Bebo Valdés, was released on December 6, 2018. This revolutionary version release of WordPress introduces block editing, and an editor-compatible default block theme called Twenty Nineteen.

If you are already hosted in our Managed WordPress Hosting (MWP) environment, here is more information.

If you are needing some time to adjust to the new block editing feature, you can still download and install the Classic Editor plugin to restore the Classic WordPress editor and the Edit Post screen. The Classic Editor lets you:

  • Keep using plugins that are not compatible with the new block editor
  • Keeps old-style meta boxes
  • Continue using functionality otherwise dependent on the legacy-editing experience

If you prefer to stick with the legacy Classic Editor, support will remain in WordPress through 2021.

WordPress 4.9.6 Privacy and Maintenance Release

WordPress has released version 4.9.6, which adds support for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), a European Union privacy standard which takes effect on May 25th.

The GDPR will require website transparency about collection, use, and sharing of user data. It also will give users more control about how data can be collected and shared.

WordPress 4.9.6 is available for download or update in your WP-Admin dashboard. Please make sure to update when you have a chance.
